Channel web connections: The Column Splice Settings window determines the channel section used for channel web connections.
For welded splices: This type of connection can be applied to wide flange, S shape, welded plate W, welded plate box, HSS round or HSS rectangular columns.Connection design does not create splice plates when an upper column has a greater cross-sectional area than the column below it. A " Butt plate " or " Web plates " is optional. " Connection design creates a fill plate when the nominal depth of the upper column is at least two inches less than the nominal depth of the lower column.
